Long time without writing, it is nice to be here again. Today, I will introduce another book I’m still reading in the present: “The magic of believing” by Claude M. Bristol.I strongly recommend it as “heavy stuff” for inquiring minds. This book was published in 1948, may be it’s the oldest book I ever came to read but I must say: oldies are good!.For the first time also, I woke up to the idea that all this “New Age” global movement was never new. All the ideas, set of believes, insights and amazing wisdom many of us so much enjoy now a days are ancient indeed. The theories of “the power of our minds”, “the power of believing”, “the law of attraction”, “the power of dreams” and so on are as ancient as the history of humanity. This book points out a very known fact: in every historical era there was always a very selected group of “illuminated minds” that held a powerful knowledge.A knowledge that acted as the primary impulse to build empires, to conquest lands, to make wonderful inventions and in short: to take all humankind to its present modern times. A knowledge that made the man to land on the moon, to find every physical law that governs our galaxy, to improve science, economics, arts and technology to a never imagined level.A knowledge that far from being only for privileged minds; is so abundant that we all came to life with it: our powerful minds. The problem here is the same that humankind faced in past times. If Newton didn’t tell us about the law of gravity, we will never have known that there was such a thing and our history will have been very different from the present (just think about how will be travelling without airplanes). If we don’t know about the existence of something we will never use it. And sometimes that is what we do when we deny something, we so firmly do it that it can disappear from our minds literally and if sustained even from the environment it self.Or the opposite: as with religious faith and the so known miraculous happenings. When somebody holds a sustained believe in something, no matter how impossible; it starts to make its way through every “mysterious channel” until it pops out.Anyway, if you are on the road looking incessantly for a new understanding and are never satisfied with the plain “facts” of our cultural history, I would urge you to do the same as me: research for it and answers will come.
