I was reading the entries from a blog I use to visit lately, an author that laid some deep roots on my way of thinking. The discussion was open about a subject that I like to meditate: the huge influence that exerts the world at large in our individual existences. He was pointing to something that made me think: beware of everything you “swallow" from this world, was told in short.Every ordinary human being, without an advanced knowledge can by nature decide what is good and what is not for his/her own body. We know, for example; what kind of food is suitable for us to eat, how much and when. Our bodies give the sign of “hungry”, “yummy” and “full” naturally. The problem arises when we stop listening to our inner voice and start eating whenever we please, whatever we find and how much we “can bear”.Now, if we have that “natural call” inside what happens with the other things we use to “eat” from this world?. What about the kind of things we watch, hear, and read?.Aren’t they also part of the natural needs we have as reactive and receptive beings?.We don’t really care about that right?, I didn’t. Until one day that I noticed that reading the news papers and watching horror movies were the actual reason of my constant swing of moods.I won’t lie, I still read the news but at least I avoid the “crime and blood-stained” sessions. Many will tell me, hey the world is like that! and that is right. But if I can keep my mind in peace while I’m trying to find solutions instead of drowning in the drama, I will do whatever it takes.
